Hello and welcome! My name is Nisha, and I’m a graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’m also a proud first-generation American with roots in Guyana, South America. Growing up as the daughter of immigrants has deeply influenced how I approach my work and strengthened my commitment to supporting and advocating for underserved communities. My personal journey has played a significant role in shaping who I am as a therapist, allowing me to come alongside my clients with empathy, curiosity, and hope.
My therapeutic practice is centered around creating a safe and inclusive space where you feel valued, understood, and where all parts of your identity are honored. I draw from a narrative approach, believing that each person has a unique story to tell. Together, we explore and make meaning of your experiences, empowering you to re-author your narrative in ways that align with your values and hopes for the future. I also take a collaborative and strength-based approach to therapy, emphasizing the empowerment and resilience of each individual. I am passionate about using a holistic approach to healing, grounded in the belief that the mind, body, and spirit all play essential roles in our well-being. To support this, I integrate mindfulness and body-based practices to help clients develop greater self-awareness and emotional regulation.
Outside of my therapeutic work, I am the co-founder of a nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces for my cultural community. I deeply believe in the power of healing through community and connection. In my personal life, I am a daughter, sister, aunt, and a cycle breaker. I’m a lifelong learner, fueled by curiosity and drawn to stories—whether I’m rewatching Star Wars, keeping up with the latest Marvel sagas, or listening to the stories of my elders and the wisdom carried through generations. I enjoy traveling, exploring new places, and embracing all the adventures life has to offer. I also cherish the time I get to spend with my family, friends, and loved ones. I’m grateful to walk alongside others as we learn, grow, and trust the process together.
Please reach out if you think we’d be a good fit. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
