I am currently a student at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, pursuing a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. At this time, I have been working in the mental health field for over 7 years. In my professional clinical experience I have worked as a mental health counselor in chemical dependency recovery, group home and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization settings. Additionally, I have a variety of case management experience, which has solidified that I highly value care coordination, resource connection and client advocacy.
I am passionate about working closely and collaboratively with clients so that they feel our work together creates momentum towards the positive changes that they want to see in their lives. I believe that it is highly important to create and maintain a therapeutic environment that feels comfortable, accepting and safe. I strongly believe that clients truly are the experts on their own lives, that each client’s personal situation is unique and should be respected, and that context matters greatly.
I look forward to working with individuals, couples, partnerships and families, as I am passionate about supporting relationships of all kinds. I feel that the therapist’s role is to hold whatever clients feel ready to bring into session to discuss, explore and process. My goal is to work to support the clients that I see in ways that are the most helpful to and meaningful for them.
I approach therapy with an open mind and from a non-judgmental stance. I enjoy bringing laughter into my work, as I feel that humor in session can be both important and healing. When meeting me, you can expect that I will be curious about you, your life and your goals for our work together. I will ask questions about and listen attentively to your story, and will always maintain an appreciation for the honor that it is to hear it.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends, attending live music events and relaxing in hammocks. I like to get new tattoos and am learning how to play the harmonica. I have a lot of love for my (very energetic) dog, two (very affectionate) cats and five (very cute) fish – I think they are all pretty cool.
